Ben Holder

Playing with ‘Sir’ Alan’s Hot Groovers at the Upton Jazz Festival on 29th June 2013.
Ben is a gifted jazz violinist in the style of the great Stephane Grappelli. He first played at Upton at the 25th Festival in 2010 at the age of 19, with the group
Djangology. Whilst there he stood in for a missing trombonist with the John Petters band, where he immediately became a sensation with his improvisation repartee with the noted clarinetist James Evans (unfortunately not videoed). Ben is also an accomplished pianist.
Also playing here with Ben is ‘Sir’ Alan, drums; Joe Swinnerton, double bass; and John Smith, guitar.
